Hi Nick,
Apologies for being off topic with regards to the blog post on which I am commenting, but I could not find your email address. I looked and maybe I missed an obvious place.
I was wondering if you could share your thoughts as to what technology/language you would use to develop the type of software you have created.
If you were to start a new project, or say, start writting FeedDemon today, would you still choose Delphi? Or would you go with C# (maybe with .NET 2.0)?
Just curious as to what your thoughts were on the subject.
Thanks.
Regards,
Diego Barros

Hi Diego,
I'd most likely still choose Delphi if I was just starting to write FeedDemon, simply because I can be so productive with it.
If I was just starting out as a programmer, though, I'd most likely choose C# or something entirely web-based (like Ruby on Rails).

Hi Nick,
Thanks for the reply. Interesting. I guess I lean towards Delphi more because I don't have to worry about distributing .NET (or having it as a requirement) and could simply release something self contained (in a single EXE even).
Also, I guess if I was concerned about people reading my code I'd need to obfuscate the .NET code. :)
Cheers,
Diego

Problem is, this is still considered speculative work (do something for us, if we like it, we'll pay you). It is considered unethical and unprofessional by orgainzations like AIGA and Graphic Designsers of Canada.

I couldn't find a better place to post, so I'll ask here. Are you the same Nick Bradbury that attended the University of Missouri-Rolla in 1985, 1986? If so, give me a shout back.
Thanks.
